The Big Issue was set up as a way for homeless people to make money in a way that acts as an individual business. They believe that everyone deserves a chance to get back on their feet and do it in a way that feels like an accomplishment. Their mission is to dismantle poverty by creating opportunity. 'a hand up not a hand out' They try to give a voice to the voiceless. They don't have a specific political leaning, but look to expose corruption and hold politicians and big institutions to account. HOUSE STYLE: // Top-left hand corner is the masthead, usually black on white or white on black, sometimes different colours and boarders but always the same font and format. // Price usually in top-right hand corner in the same font each time when being sold on the street. ANALYSE THE DIFFERENT SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS IN SOURCES A AND B [10] APPLY GILROY Both sources A and B represent different social classes in order to appease their respective target audiences. The telegraph being ABC1 right-winged nationalists and  the Guardian being younger ABC1 left-winged liberals.    The representation of migrant groups is consistent across both  texts, but  are  presented to the audience  in  differing  ways.   Gilroy’s ideas surrounding postcolonial melancholia are clearly shown through representations present in text A.  The  othering of  the  Windrush  generation is evidenced through the phrasing of the headline of them as ‘migrants’ rather than the ‘citizens’ that they have been for over sixty years that is  used in the Guardian.    T his reinforces the idea that they are second-class citizens and  criminalized through the negative stigma surrounding that title ,...
